Back, Joint and Sports Injury Physiotherapy in Kent
Our chartered physiotherapists assess and treat back and neck pain, joint problems and sports injuries, helping you get moving again and stay that way. We work alongside our private GPs at our clinic in Mereworth, a few minutes from Kings Hill, West Malling and Wateringbury, so if you need a scan, a specialist opinion or a medication review, it’s all under one roof. No referral needed, free parking and unhurried appointments.

- Shoulder problems, such as rotator cuff pain and frozen shoulder
- Elbow and wrist pain, including tennis and golfer’s elbow
- Hip and knee pain, including osteoarthritis
- Ankle and foot problems, including sprains and heel pain (plantar fasciitis)
- Sports and running injuries, including muscle strains and tendon problems
- Rehabilitation after surgery or injury
- Persistent or recurring pain
How we treat
Treatment is built around your goals, whether that’s sleeping without pain, lifting your children, getting back to the gym or running your next race. It may include:
- Exercise and strength programmes, the foundation of most recovery
- Hands-on treatment where it helps
- Movement retraining and advice on posture, work set-up and activity
- A graded return to sport or exercise
- Clear explanation and self-management strategies so you can look after the problem long-term
What happens at your first appointment
Your first appointment includes a detailed conversation about your symptoms and goals, a physical assessment, a clear explanation of what we find, and a personalised treatment and exercise plan. You’ll leave knowing what’s going on and exactly what to do next.
What to wear: loose, comfortable clothing. Shorts are helpful for hip, knee or ankle problems.
GP and physiotherapy together
Most musculoskeletal problems don’t need a scan. When they do, or when pain relief, a steroid injection or a specialist opinion might help, our GPs can review you.
Staying strong through life changes
We also support patients using our weight-loss injectables service to keep their muscle strength while losing weight, and women going through the menopause who notice new joint aches or want to protect their bone health. Ask about adding a physiotherapy strength assessment to your care.
When to get urgent help
Call 999 or go to A&E if back pain comes with numbness around your bottom or genitals, new difficulty passing urine or controlling your bladder or bowels, or weakness in both legs. These can be signs of cauda equina syndrome, which needs emergency treatment.
See a GP promptly if pain comes with fever, unexplained weight loss, a history of cancer, severe pain after a fall or injury, or constant pain that is worse at night.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with our physiotherapists.
Do I need a scan first?
Usually not. Most back and joint problems can be diagnosed and treated without a scan. If we think one would help, our GPs can arrange it.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Many people need 3–6 sessions, and some just one or two with a clear home programme. We’ll give you an honest estimate.
Should I rest or keep moving?
For most back pain and many injuries, staying gently active helps recovery. We’ll advise you on exactly what’s right for your problem.
Do you treat sports injuries?
Yes, from weekend runners and gym-goers to club players, including a planned return to sport.
